Kimberlyn studied at the Peabody Institute under Tseng Keng-Yuen, fulfilling her Masters of Music degree in Violin Performance fully supported by the Peabody-YSTCM Masters of Music Scholarship. Before that, she graduated from the Yong Siew Toh Conservatory of Music, studying under the tutelage of Ng Yu-Ying, leader of the T’ang Quartet and her previous teachers include Kang Choon Sim, and Chua Lik Wuk, former first violinist of the Singapore Symphony Orchestra.
Kimberlyn is a committed orchestral musician and has played in many orchestras in both Singapore and United States. Her experience also includes performances with the Metropolitan Festival Orchestra, Asia Virtuosi, Orchestra of the Music Makers, Singapore Lyric Opera, and Re:sound Collective. She has also often taken up principal positions, and has recently served as concertmaster in a triple-bill production of Puccini’s Il Trittico with the Peabody Opera Theatre Orchestra. Thus, she had the pleasure of working under renowned conductors, including Gábor Takács-Nagy, Eiji Oue, Lan Shui, Leon Fleisher, Marin Alsop, Sian Edwards, amongst others.
Kimberlyn is also actively involved in chamber music and has performed at various chamber music festivals across Europe and the United States. She also had the privilege to perform with Schneider, Principal Violist of the Luxembourg Philharmonic Orchestra in Germany. Other highlights include being part of a contemporary chamber opera production of Laura Kaminsky’s “As One” in a Baltimore premiere for two singers and string quartet. She has also received chamber music guidance under renowned faculty including Armida Quartett, Vadim Monastyrski, David Takeno, Norman Fischer, Michael Kannen, Seth Knopp, director of the Yellow Barn Music Festival.

Back in school, her string quartet performed in functions including the President’s Challenge Commemorative Dinner at the Istana. They have also given performances at outreach events to young children at the Yong Siew Toh Conservatory of Music and high school students at the annual orchestra camp organized by the Orchestra of the Music Makers.

She also plays the baroque violin under the tutelage of Risa Browder at the Peabody Institute, and is currently a member of the Baltimore Baroque Band.
