Joanne C, Violin

Joanne C, ViolinJoanne started her violin studies as a second instrument at the age of 5, and continued to participate in various ensemble and music programs throughout her youth. As an active member of the Singapore National Youth Orchestra for 6 years, as well as the Music Education Programme and String Ensemble in Raffles Girls’ School, she grew a strong passion for symphonic and chamber works. Joanne entered the Yong Siew Toh Conservatory of Music at the age of 17 under the early admissions programme and is currently pursuing her Bachelor’s degree (with Honors) in Violin Performance under the studio of Ng Yu Ying.

Throughout her education, she has participated internationally in several festivals and competitions, including Round Top Festival Institute, as well as Raffles Arts International Music Festival where she clinched the Gold Award in the Solo Violin competition. She has had the privilege of working with renowned conductors including Carl St Claire, Michelle Merill, Wong Kah Chun and Andrew Litton and participated in many masterclasses with reputable violinists such as Gil Shaham, Benny Tseng, Charles Castleman, Guillaume Sutre, and Sheryl Staples.

Joanne currently plays on a 1909 Franceso Guadagnini generously loaned by the Rin Collection.
