Jason began studying the viola at 9 years old. At age 14, he went to the United States to further his study at Idyllwild Arts Academy with Professor Donald McInnes. During that time, he won the academy’s Concerto Competition and performed with the school orchestra. He also had the privilege of attending many masterclasses by various eminent musicians such as the Hagen Quartet and Brian Chen. At age 18, he studied in Missouri with Professor Scott Lee.
Jason was admitted into the Yong Siew Toh Conservatory of Music in Singapore with a full scholarship in 2017, and is currently studying under Professor Zhang Manchin, the Principal Violist of the Singapore Symphony Orchestra. He has had the opportunity to perform in many masterclasses conducted by renowned musicians such as William Coleman and Hsin-Yun Huang, and he participated in the Singapore Violin Festival as an orchestra member
