Our second gig of of 12 May was at The Arts House at The Old Parliament. Nichol and Joan’s wedding solemnisation was to take place in The Chamber. We played a specially customised string quartet arrangement of “O Mio Babbino Caro”, an extremely famous and popular Italian soprano aria for Joan’s march-in, and witnessed one of the most endearing wedding moments ever.
After the ceremony, we proceeded to the foyer outside the function rooms to play our regular mix as the guests helped themselves to the buffet.
The description of the Chamber on The Arts House’s website is apt:
“Also known as the “heart” of the Old Parliament House, the former Parliamentary Debating Chamber radiates grandeur and gravitas, and will certainly make a lasting impression. Modelled after the British House of Commons utilising furnishings made and imported from London, the Chamber has a Westminster-style seating arrangement with seats facing each other.”
No wonder we couldn’t resist taking a few more photos.
